Q: What is Heavy Frequency?
A: Heavy Frequency is an online magazine that covers Midwestern metal, hardcore and hard rock music. Heavy Frequency has operated since early 2002. The staff consists entirely of volunteers who offer their services for the betterment of the local music community. We host an annual barbeque event, an annual awards show, and approximately two Heavy Frequency organized and sponsored live shows each year.
Q: How do I get my band on a Heavy Frequency show or event?
A: You are welcome to contact us and express interest, however it does not guarantee that events are in the work, nor does it guarantee that you will be contacted to perform at shows or events.
Q: Is Heavy Frequency offered in print?
A: No. Heavy Frequency is not currently offered in print form. While the possibility of a print magazine in the future exists, we have no immediate plans to release one.
Q: I am submitting my show dates, but they do not appear on the calendar. What is wrong?
A: Your shows may not make it onto the Heavy Frequency shows calendar for one of the following reasons:
- You are sending them to the wrong address. The correct e-mail address to mail show dates to is calendar@heavyfrequency.com
- You are sending them too late to make our regular weekly calendar updates. We typically update on Tuesday mornings, the same day we send out our weekly mailing list.
- There is a technological difficulty that is beyond our control preventing your e-mails from being delivered.
- You did not include all of the necessary information to be posted. Necessary information includes: date, venue, city, state, and all bands on the bill.
Q: Why has Heavy Frequency not covered my band?
A: Hundreds of bands throughout the Midwest have yet to be covered. While we would love to cover every band, it is simply not possible with limited staff, resources, time and funding. Please be patient.
Q: When will photo galleries, articles, show dates, classified ads, et cetera be posted online?
A: The staff works as quickly as possible to post all new content on the website for public viewing. Please be patient.
Q: How do I get my album reviewed on Heavy Frequency?
A: Bands may submit albums that are not burned discs, and have at least four songs. The artist must be Midwestern, and must be of metal, hardcore or hard rock genre. Please include: cover artwork, band name, disc title, release month and year, track listing in numerical order, contact information for the band. The address is available on the contact page. Submitting an album for review does not guarantee that it will receive a review.
Q: Why has no one from Heavy Frequency attended my band’s shows? How come my band’s show never got reviewed?
A: While we would love to attend every single show, it is not possible due to limitations on staff, time, resources and funding. Because a staff member attends a show does not necessarily guarantee a show review.
